Art takes us further. Art Basel takes you Inside.

Art takes us further.
Art Basel takes you Inside.

At Art Basel, we have seen that art can be a powerfully transformative tool. Artists have a crucial role to play in imagining a different kind of future, and we are proud to announce an inspiring new initiative that embraces the creative process as a vehicle for reenvisioning the world around us.

Extending the Art Basel universe beyond the core artworld in an unprecedented way, Art Basel Inside offers artists, creatives, thinkers, founders, and entrepreneurs from all fields – technology, finance, the sciences, and more – a unique chance to come together around a common goal.

Art Basel Inside is a framework for discoveries. We offer a carefully composed group of proven change makers the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and innovate collectively. By leveraging the expertise of future-focused minds from across disciplines and the globe, we aim to harness the amplifying power of art for positive impact.

Taking place February 14–16, 2020, Art Basel Inside will convene a select group of approximately 300 participants in an immersive, creative journey in Abu Dhabi, hosted in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism.

The uniquely varied terrain of Abu Dhabi – from desert to city to sea – plays a key role in this interactive itinerary, which revolves around thematic excursions specially conceived to recalibrate our frames of reference. Site-specific installations and performances in the core arts program are complemented by dynamic dialogs with guest speakers from the worlds of technology and science. Smaller gatherings layered throughout the journey encourage the discovery of synergies, as well as productive frictions.

The arts program of Art Basel Inside 2020 will explore the many forms of intelligence that exist in nature, humans, and machines through a rich collaboration among artists, researchers, choreographers, and architects. By applying the filter of art to opposing lines of inquiry, we will create an ecosystem to approach critical issues such as sustainability and artificial intelligence not as isolated topics, but as nodes within a larger network. A focus on physical and sensorial experiences will help encode these learnings within our beings.
